Counsellor in training

Welcome – I'm Fejiro.

I'm a trainee counsellor and psychotherapist currently completing a Master's degree at the University of Salford. I practise from a person-centred approach, offering a calm, empathic, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted—just as you are.

The person-centred philosophy places you at the heart of the therapeutic process. I won't lead with assumptions or direction; instead, I'll support you in exploring whatever feels important to you, at your own pace. My role is to walk alongside you, creating the right conditions for growth, healing, and self-discovery.

Although I'm approaching the final year of my formal training, my commitment to learning runs deep. I actively engage in continued professional development and view every interaction as an opportunity to grow—both as a therapist and a human being.

I look forward to hearing from you!

About me.

Outside the therapy room, I'm passionate about sport, movement, and exploration. I enjoy seeking out new experiences and believe in staying curious—about the world, about others, and about myself. While I hold a lightness and playfulness in my nature, I've often been described as emotionally mature and deeply grounded. These qualities shape how I show up in sessions—warm, present, and unafraid to sit with whatever you bring.

I also bring lived experience. I entered the foster care system at age 11 and spent my formative years navigating the care system. For a long time, I felt pressure to hide this part of my identity, shaped by societal stigma and assumptions. But over time, I've reclaimed my story. I now share it openly—not for sympathy, but to challenge perceptions and to offer hope to others. I know first-hand that adversity doesn't define you, and that healing is always possible—no matter where you begin.

I believe every person has the capacity to grow into the most authentic version of themselves when met with empathy, safety, and respect. Therapy can offer that environment. Many clients have described me as someone who brings a calming, steady presence—someone who listens deeply and without judgement. If you're looking for a therapist who will honour your pace, respect your story, and hold space for your full humanity, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.

Person-Centred Therapy is a non-directive approach designed to empower you to take charge of your own mental wellbeing. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, I will guide you through a process of self-discovery, helping you uncover your own insights and solutions.

Person-centred therapy can support you in resolving inner conflicts, redefining your values and outlook on life, and making sense of your thoughts and emotions.

In our sessions, you’ll have the space to talk openly about whatever feels most important to you. My role is to provide understanding, empathy, and unconditional acceptance—creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where you feel truly heard.

At the heart of this approach is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. No one knows your experiences, challenges, and inner world better than you do.

I’m here to walk alongside you on this journey—supporting you as you build self-awareness, find your own answers, and move toward greater wellbeing.

All sessions take place in a warm, private, and comfortable therapy room within the wellbeing centre.

I currently have space to work with up to six clients for a course of Person-Centred Therapy. As I am still in training, these sessions are completely free of charge.

I have availability most days/evenings (apart from Wednesday evenings) so I will be able to accommodate most schedules.

Before starting, you’ll meet with the Clinical Director for an initial assessment to ensure that ‘counsellor-in-training’ sessions are the right fit for your needs. If suitable, we’ll then begin an 8-week therapy journey together.

As part of our working agreement, you’ll be invited to share feedback halfway through (after session four) and again at the end of the course. This helps me reflect on my practice and continue developing as a therapist.

I am fully insured, hold an enhanced DBS certificate, and receive regular supervision—both through my university and with an external BACP-accredited clinician.

Throughout our work together, I will always follow the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) and uphold complete confidentiality from your very first enquiry.
